Day After-school ProgrammingA cohort of Georgetown medical students joined LFFP at Ferdinand T. Day to teach skills and practice tools to help with social-emotional wellness.  The students love having the medical students join the circle and share ways the children can take care of their bodies, emotions, and minds. One of the lessons focused on the importance of eating healthy foods and exercising. Also, the medical students brought their tools to check blood pressure and heartbeats.  One of the students said, “I like Peace Club because I am learning how to care for my body, mind, and spirit and help others.”Chance Academy In-school ProgrammingIn February, we focused on kindness with the students at Chance Academy during one of the sessions. We read a nonfiction story that showed examples of kindness. We also did an activity highlighting how our actions, words, and looks can be kind or unkind. The sessions ended with the students being on fire about kindness, and they began collaborating on plans for a kindness celebration. When we returned to Chance Academy the following week, the students shared that they had each written a poem about kindness.Kindness is… Kindness is caringIt will inspire anyoneNice hugs are kindDreaming of a better world with kindnessNice words change peopleEverybody can be kindSharing kindness I can do.Spreading kindness everyone can do.What is Kindness? Kind to allInspiring for allNever pushing or shovingDelightful and lovingNever hitting or bickeringEven better, smilingSharing and simpleSmiling with a giggleAfter-school Programming with the Baltimore Salvation Army Boys and Girls ClubJanuary began the first semester of LFFP’s partnership with Baltimore’s Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club.  LFFP Peace Coach Kelly Stickney has already circled up with all 12 of this tight-knit group of young Peacemakers, ages 5-12, to begin cultivating peacebuilding in their homes, school, and neighborhoods. This group has visualized peace and discussed what it takes to become powerful Peacemakers. We will meet four more Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 PM at the Boys and Girls Club location on N. Calhoun St. If any local LFFP volunteers want to meet with us, please reach out!Upcoming Peace CirclesPeace Circle for High School Students, College Students, and Young Adults Every other Tuesday6:30 – 7:30 PM March 14th – Patience and PeaceMarch 28th – Making Good ChoicesApril 11th – Managing Stress and AnxietyApril 25th – RelationshipsMay 9th – Balancing and FocusMay 23rd – Planning for the summer Register at https://forms.gle/75xqJ9SmNX2x5hMk8 to receive reminder emails.Peace Circle for Adults Every other Wednesday7:30 – 8:30 PM March 8th – Peace and PatienceMarch 22nd – Handling ChangeApril 5th – Restorative PracticesApril 19th – Developing Peaceful LifestyleMay 3rd – Living in the Present MomentMay 17th – Art of CaringMay 31st – Making Peaceful ChoicesJune 14th – Practice Being Balanced Register at https://forms.gle/k9PQDPZFgi7fF6mE9 to receive reminder emails.   “In times of stress, the best thing we can do for each other is to listen with our ears and our hearts and to be assured that our questions are just as important as our answers.” Mr. RogersSupport LFFP LFFP | 240-838-4549 | littlefriendsforpeace@lffp.org | www.lffp.org Connect with us
