Elijah Eugene Cummings – 1951-2019 GMOM mourns the passing of Chairman Cummings. In addition to his other good works, he was one of three Maryland members of Congress to endorse the Democracy Amendment Resolution and one of two to endorse the We the People amendment in the House.
CHANGE COMES TO THE MARYLAND SENATE
Senate President Mike Miller (lt.) announced he will remain in the Senate but is stepping down from the Presidency due to illness. Baltimore City District 46 Senator Bill Ferguson (rt.) was named by his Democratic colleagues to assume the role. GMOM designated Sen. Ferguson a Democracy Champion after the 2018 legislative session for his efforts to help pass the Democracy Amendment Resolution in the Senate after it had passed the House.
This past weekend, three members of the GMOM Board attended the National Citizen Leadership Conference, sponsored by American Promise, and devoted to the passage of the 28th Amendment.

At the conference, GMOM convened a meeting of partners – Public Citizen, American Promise Association, Wolf-PAC, Take Back Our Republic, and more to work together on a non-partisan national observance of the 10th Anniversary of Citizens United v. FEC, one of the worst Supreme Court decisions in United States history. On Monday, we met with Reps. Jamie Raskin and Anthony Brown and saw aides to Sens. Cardin and Van Hollen.
