MLK Event/Peace Expo– Interfaith Conference Peace Expo
MLK Event- SUNDAY
January 7th!
Program 3-4:30 pm
Peace Expo 4:30-5:30 pm
New York Ave Presbyterian Church
Enjoy an afternoon of Calvin Woodland impersonating the voice of Dr. King and sharing his famous quotations; hear keynote speaker, Dr. Ben Chavis, who worked with MLK during the civil rights movement, share his reflections of the challenges they faced and their triumphs; listen tointerfaith expressions relating the tenets of different religions to the important teachings of MLK, savor the inspiring music by well known gospel singer Wyomme Pariss and the beautiful musical selections by the World Children’s Choir as well as a special treat with the famous Hip Hop Artist, Husha Assad, offering powerful pieces about our society and Dr. King’s vision. Finally, a unique, “Speak Your Mind” during a brief mini-Community Dialogue about issues you are concerned about in our society today! This is an event the whole family will enjoy.
Have fun with the entire congregation joining in a joyous sing-along as we leave the sanctuary for a Special Reception of delicious food and the “MLK PEACE EXPO RESOURCE FAIR: Welcome to the Beloved Community”, a Resource Fair of peace, social justice, human rights organizations and more… living Dr. King’s dream of a “Beloved Community”.
*Any organization interested in “tabling” at the MLK EXPO can registerhere.   Space is limited so sign up right away to secure a table.  For more information, contact Andra at: mlk@ifcmw.org
*There will be FREE Garage Parking for this special service right next to the church at:1399 New York Avenue Washington, DC 20005til 6:15pm
