Department of Peace in Cleveland and the commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the Department of Peace legislation ![]() Cleveland mayoral candidate, original co-sponsor of the first Dept. of Peace legislation, and former Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) will provide the keynote address. “That is why, as Mayor, I will create a cabinet-level Civic Peace Department which will identify trouble spots in the city and intervene, whenever possible, prior to an outbreak of violence and will create new policies that address safety, security, crime, and rehabilitation, establish and coordinate new community-based violence prevention programs and conflict resolution strategies.” We are living at a moment in time when we are in the midst of an all systems breakdown, and it’s painful, but we are also in the middle of an all systems breakthrough. A cabinet-level Department of Peacebuilding will create the vehicle for this breakthrough to finally come to pass. Spend this time with us as we commemorate the years of tireless efforts to further this legislation, envision how a local Civic Peace Department could show us how this will transform communities, and learn how you can join the team to tell our elected officials that the time is now for a cabinet-level Department of Peacebuilding. In peace and partnership, Dee Tate Managing Director and The Peace Alliance Board of Directors Please consider a monthly donation to help sustain the critical work of peacebuilding in our country and beyond by clicking the button below.
