Dear Stephen,
We have some exciting news–but we need you to act now!
Representatives Adam Smith (D-WA), Ted Lieu (D-CA), John Garamendi (D-CA), Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), and Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) have introduced legislation to prohibit the research, development, production, and deployment of low-yield nuclear warheads for submarine-launched ballistic missiles.
Will you tell your members of Congress to sign on as cosponsors today? It takes just a few clicks to make a difference.
As Senator Markey so aptly put it: “There is no such thing as a zero-calorie chocolate fudge sundae, and there is no such thing as a low-yield nuclear bomb. A nuclear weapon is a nuclear weapon, and the United States doesn’t need a new one.”
So-called “low-yield” nuclear weapons can be as large as the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki — put simply, they are city-destroyers.
President Trump has requested that we add these weapons to the already-overflowing nuclear arsenal. Are you ready to tell him that we do not need more nukes? We already have more weapons than we need, and these particular weapons makes us less safe and increase the risk of the U.S. launching a nuclear war.
Urge your members of Congress to co-sponsor this bill today!
In solidarity,
Nancy Parrish
