National Mobilization to Stop War on North Korea
And End Nuclear Weapons

Trump has threatened “to totally destroy North Korea.”  Secretary of Defense Mattis has told the U.S. Army “to be ready” for war. We are on a dangerous path towards a military confrontation that could kill millions and engulf the world in a nuclear holocaust.

Come say no war with North Korea—and no nuclear weapons!

What:  Demonstration, with street theatre, banners, the       People’s Peace Treaty

When11 a.m., Nov. 11, McKeldin Square, Pratt and Light Streets, Baltimore

Cosponsors:  Anne Arundel County Peace Action, Howard County Peace Action, Maryland United for Peace and Justice, Peace Action Montgomery, Peace and Justice Coalition of Prince George’s County, Black Alliance for Peace, Sandy Spring Friends Meeting Peace Committee, Progressive Democrats of America, Green Party of Baltimore County, Pax Christi of Maryland, Social Justice Committee of UU Congregation of Rockville.

November 11 is Veterans’ Day. But Veterans for Peace and other groups are calling for the observance of November 11 to be in keeping with the holiday’s original intent as Armistice Daywhich the U.S. Congress said wasdesigned to perpetuate peace through good will and mutual understanding between nations “ when it was first designated as a national holiday.

After World War II, the U.S. Congress rebranded November 11 as Veterans Day. Honoring the warriors quickly morphed into glorifying war.  Armistice Day has been flipped from a day for peace into a day for displays of militarism.

This year, with a rise of hate and fear around the world, it is especially urgent to ring the bells of peace and reclaim Armistice Day. Our president says diplomacy with North Korea is a waste of time. Diplomacy is in fact the only hope. Today war can too easily escalate into a nuclear war and end civilization.

Join us on November 11 to take a stand against war with North Korea, a war that could quickly become nuclear, kill millions of people, and lead to nuclear winter with mass starvation, and to stand in favor of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

The world has said it before and is saying it again:  NO to WAR!  NO to NUCLEAR WEAPONS! Join us!
